Capturing the rugged beauty and history of Northumberland and beyond.

Englands border county is a vast and ruggedly impressive landscape. Steeped in a rich history which boasts more castles than any other county in England. Northumberland has some of the most beautiful and unspoiled coastlines in the UK, the largest gold-tier dark sky park in Europe and a world class National Park with incredible rolling hills, and dense lush woodlands.

I am trying to capture these qualities in my images from Northumberland and occasionally further afield.

This project is setting out to be the first ever photographic catalogue of all of Northumberland’s castles.

With 70 castles across the county, Northumberland has more than any other in England. In fact if you count Peles and Bastles there are well over 100.
